These terms govern your use of The Internet Compass (theinternetcompass.com), published by Internet Compass Media ("we," "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
What the site is
The Internet Compass publishes structured information about companies, software, compensation, cities and the internet economy, drawn from editorial research and from public third-party data sources (credited on the pages they appear on — see Methodology), plus a set of free browser-based tools. It's informational. Nothing on the site is financial, legal, tax, immigration or career advice, and nothing on the site is an offer of employment.
Accuracy of data
We source data carefully and credit it, but we don't independently verify every fact from every third-party source, and public data changes. Company details, salary bands, software pricing and similar figures are provided "as is," may be out of date, and shouldn't be the sole basis for a financial or employment decision. If you find an error, please tell us — we correct real mistakes.
Job postings
Job listings on this site are aggregated from third-party sources and employer job boards. We are not the employer, we don't vet postings for accuracy or legitimacy beyond what our sources provide, and we're not a party to any application, interview or hiring outcome. Always verify a listing and the hiring organization directly before applying or sharing personal information.
Free tools
Tools under /tools are provided free, "as is," with no warranty of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. They run in your browser; verify important output (a generated invoice, a calculation, a converted file) before relying on it.
Acceptable use
Don't scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, attempt to bypass access controls, or use it to build a competing dataset by mass-copying our editorial content. Structured/agent access is explicitly supported through the endpoints listed on our AI & agents page — use those instead of scraping rendered HTML.
Intellectual property
Original editorial content, design and site code are owned by Internet Compass Media. Data attributed to a third-party source remains subject to that source's own license (noted on the pages where it appears). You may link to and quote our pages with attribution; wholesale reproduction requires permission.
External links
We link to third-party sites (source data, company websites, job applications). We don't control and aren't responsible for their content, availability or practices.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Internet Compass Media isn't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. The site is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Internet Compass Media is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site evolves. Material changes will update the "last updated" date above; continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
