About The Internet Compass

Company intelligence, software analysis, compensation data and city guides for the internet economy: researched, structured and kept current.

What we build

The Internet Compass is a reference layer for the internet economy: structured, sourced information on the companies, software, people, research and infrastructure that make up the technology industry, plus a growing set of free browser-based tools. Every page exists to answer a specific question a real searcher has — not to fill a URL pattern.

The site runs on two content layers. The first is hand-curated editorial content: company profiles, software analysis, salary bands, city guides and a working glossary, researched and maintained directly. The second is a continuously ingested knowledge graph, pulling public data from 30 external sources — open source registries, research databases, government data and world indicators — through an entity-resolution pipeline that deduplicates and cross-references records rather than presenting every source's raw feed. The full breakdown of how that works, including what gets indexed and what doesn't, is on the Methodology page.

Why it exists

Most information about companies, software and careers online is scattered across marketing pages, forums and out-of-date listicles. The Internet Compass exists to put it in one place, sourced and kept current, structured the same way whether a person is reading it in a browser or a language model is reading it through the machine-readable surface we publish alongside every page.

Who runs it

The Internet Compass is published by Internet Compass Media, founded 2026. We're a small, editorially independent team — we don't accept payment for placement or ranking, and every third-party data source is credited on the pages it appears on. Questions, corrections or press inquiries go to editorial@theinternetcompass.com, or see the full Contact page.
