Privacy Policy

Last updated August 13, 2026.

This policy covers information collected from visitors to The Internet Compass (theinternetcompass.com), published by Internet Compass Media. It doesn't cover the public, third-party-sourced data shown on entity pages (companies, people, repositories and similar) — that's addressed on our Methodology page, since it's about the subjects of those pages, not about you.

What we collect

Analytics. With your consent (see "Cookies" below), we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address (typically city or country level, not precise), device and browser type, and the site or search engine that referred you. This is standard web analytics — we don't use it to build individual visitor profiles.

Advertising. The Internet Compass shows ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this site or other sites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits here and elsewhere. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. You can also decline via the cookie banner on this site at any time — declining only affects ad personalization, not access to the site.

Free tools. Every tool under /tools runs entirely in your browser. Whatever you paste, upload or type into a tool — text to format, an image to convert, a file to inspect — is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. We have no record of what you use the tools for.

Accounts. The Internet Compass doesn't have user accounts, logins or saved profiles. There's nothing to collect there because it doesn't exist.

Contact. If you email us, we keep that correspondence (including your email address) for as long as needed to handle the request and keep a reasonable record afterward.

Cookies

We use two categories of cookie — analytics and advertising — bundled under a single choice, and only after you accept via the banner shown on first visit. Full detail on what's set and how to change your choice is on the Cookie Policy.

Third parties

The third-party processors we use for visitor data are Google Analytics (traffic measurement) and Google AdSense (ad serving). Google's own privacy practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services. We don't sell or rent visitor data to anyone ourselves.

Your choices

You can decline analytics cookies at any time from the consent banner, or clear your browser's stored choice to be asked again. To ask what correspondence we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email editorial@theinternetcompass.com.

Children

The Internet Compass is a general-audience reference and tools site. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
